James sent these images in response to the note in the current newsletter. During a brief conversation that he and I had prior to my posting the images James said that he didn't process using Photoshop and that the images were taken from commercially produced files of his negs made at the time of processing.

All the images were produced using a Leica M6 TTL and were taken on film (Fujichrome, Agfa Scala and Ilford XP 400) using Leica 21, 35, 50 and 90mm lenses.

During a very self-effacing phone conversation Dave said "All taken with Leica M8 shot in JPEG B&W mode. Simple post processing for Dodge/Burn and Contrast adjustments. I try to emulate my old darkroom methods rather than go in for heavy digital post processing 'effects' though I do try to add an element of grain where appropriate digitally just to get rid of the plastic look that many digitals suffer from". Dave is a relative newcomer to Leica having only had his M8 for a little over a year. I wonder how he'll get on when he gets to grips with using a rangefinder?

Dave has a website where he 'keeps' some of his photographs - including some taken using his 'other' cameras. Dave's site can be found at: www.davesellens.co.uk
64x64: Farewell to Kodachrome by Phil Coomes

When Kodak announced it was pulling the plug on Kodachrome I stashed a few rolls away with the aim of publishing a photo-a-day to the photographic website Flickr for 64 weeks.

There is no set theme to the pictures; they are of unspectacular moments, the strangeness of things overlooked. The project is partly about taking pictures for their own sake, enjoying the moment, the click of the shutter and the challenge of finding the best vantage point, coupled with a limited supply of film.

The final 448 frames can be seen on Flickr and a selection of 64 frames can be viewed at www.64x64.co.uk. There is also a Blurb book of the project available.

The images in this gallery are all taken with either the D-Lux 5 or the M9. I process them in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CS4.
